Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using Voice & Ballot (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

2. Who can use this site

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to create an account or sign a petition. By using the Site, you confirm you meet this requirement.

3. Accounts

You need an account only to start a petition — signing is open to everyone. You agree to provide accurate information when registering, to keep your login credentials secure, and to notify us of any unauthorized use of your account. One account per person; don't create an account to impersonate someone else. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Petition content — what's allowed

Petitions and comments must not contain:

Every petition is reviewed before publishing. We may reject, edit for clarity, or remove any petition at our discretion, with or without notice, if we believe it violates these terms or is otherwise inappropriate for the Site.

5. Your content and our license to use it

You retain ownership of the petitions, comments, and other content you submit. By submitting content, you grant Voice & Ballot a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Site and in connection with promoting the Site (e.g. sharing a petition link on social media).

6. Views expressed are not ours

Petitions and comments reflect the views of the individuals who created or signed them, not Voice & Ballot. We do not endorse, verify the factual accuracy of, or take a position on any individual petition.

7. Signatures

Each signature requires a name and a valid, working email address. Signing with someone else's email address without their knowledge and permission is not allowed and may result in the signature being removed and your access restricted.

8. Advertising

The Site may display advertising, including through Google AdSense. We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies work.

9. Disclaimers

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any petition will achieve its stated goal or be acted upon by anyone.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Voice & Ballot and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Voice & Ballot and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Site or your violation of these terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for violating these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Site grows. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above.

14. Governing law
